2024 ABA Spring National Legal Malpractice Conference

April 3 - 5, 2024 | New Orleans, LA

New Orleans Marriott

The in-person only conference offers a lineup of well-known lawyers and experts who will discuss the latest developments, challenges and disruptions facing the legal profession in terms of lawyer liability and malpractice issues. A series of panels are planned, including programs related to hybrid work, legal malpractice claims and cyberattacks.

During the conference, the Edward C. Mendrzycki Award will be presented to Megan M. Fore, a 2022 graduate of Seattle University School of Law. The award carries a $5,000 stipend, in addition to expenses. It is named after Edward (Ed) Mendrzycki, who was an integral member of the standing committee and served as its chair from 2001 to 2004. Contestants submitted an essay on the ethical and professional liability concerns that arise when a law firm adopts a new generative artificial intelligence legal research and document preparation system.
