Meet Adam Pietras, Berkley Select's Regional Sales Manager
In our latest 'Meet the Leader' interview, we are pleased to introduce Adam Pietras, Regional Sales Manager.
With nearly 30-years of experience in the professional lines industry, Adam shares insights into his extensive career and the emerging opportunities he envisions within the management and professional liability market.
Q). What inspired you to pursue a career in the insurance industry?
A). With a passion for economics, I was drawn to insurance for its unique intersection of market behavior, risk strategy, and financial impact. What keeps me engaged and tenured in this work is the ability to lead with a sales mindset, driving growth through strategic distribution, client engagement, and data-informed decision-making. For me, success in insurance is about leading with purpose, building trust, and consistently delivering value that supports long-term partnerships and sustainable growth.
Q). What are your main goals for our business in the next five years?
A). Over the next five years, our focus is on growing with intention on building a pipeline of management and professional liability business that reflects both quality and profitability. At Berkley Select, we know that our partners are more than just distributors. They’re trusted collaborators who help us reach the right clients in the right markets.
We’re committed to supporting those relationships with transparency, responsiveness, and a shared focus on smart growth. By working together, we’ll continue to bring in business that fits, strengthens our portfolio, and positions us all for long-term success.
Despite the volatility of the current 2025 market so far, with ample capacity and the flexibility of the E&S channel, Berkley Select is uniquely positioned to support our wholesale partners in delivering bundled, customized solutions that address today’s complex risk environment. We’re committed to helping our producer partners grow their book with confidence, backed by a shared focus on underwriting discipline, service excellence, and long-term partnership.
Q). What qualities do you believe are essential for effective leadership in the insurance industry?
A). Leading in the insurance world and guiding the next generation into it is a lot like being a great coach, cheerleader, and wise older sibling all at once. It involves showing up with heart, being authentic, and creating space for others to shine.
Empathy should be at the forefront, because people remember how you made them feel more than what you said. Integrity must be modeled consistently so your team understands what it means to do the right thing, even when it’s tough. Flexibility and curiosity are also essential, embracing change and helping your team feel energized rather than overwhelmed by what’s ahead.
I share my vision with optimism, painting a future others want to be part of. Most importantly, I strive to communicate like a real person; being authentic, breaking things down, lifting people up, and ensuring everyone feels seen and supported. For me, coaching future leaders isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about helping them believe they can find their own.
Q. What has been the most rewarding aspect of your career so far and what legacy do you hope to leave in the insurance industry?
A). The most rewarding part of my career journey has been the people, the places, and the partnerships I've experienced in nearly 30-years of this business. There’s been no shortage of travel, new experiences, and the occasional airport delay that all turned into a great story. Along the way, there’s been meaningful personal and professional growth, fueled by collaboration with some truly fantastic broker partners who somehow manage to make even the busiest days enjoyable.
Q). What is your favorite quote?
A). "Every day is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday's success or put its failures behind and start over again. That's the way life is, with a new game every day, and that's the way baseball is." - Bullet Bob Feller
